Up the River

Inside a minimum-security prison where discipline is surprisingly relaxed, two inmates - the slick gambler Steve Jordan and the good-natured hustler Bob Egan - enjoy a life of cards, jokes, and minor schemes. Trouble arrives when Steve falls for a woman on the outside, threatening his carefully balanced prison routine.Determined to help their friend experience romance and freedom, the inmates hatch an elaborate plan involving temporary escapes, impersonations, and a great deal of fast talking.
